A Chart on Why Star Trek Is So Cool Right Now
007 News

I’m a huge James Bond fan, and unlike many diehards, I love both Daniel Craig entries into the franchise. As a side bar, I think he has risen to the top of the list as far as actors playing the role. He is 2 for 2. Sean Connery and Roger Moore come in a very close second and third. Both have great movies in the series but they also both have bad duds (Thunderball and View to a Kill anybody). I then rank George Lazenby and Timothy Dalton pretty even, mainly because they didn’t contribute many films, but I think they did well with the stories they got. By far my least favorite Bond actor is Pierce Brosnan. His first, GoldenEye, is the only one worth watching and sadly he continued on for three more films.
Anywho, onto the actual news. Dark Horizons has some interesting tidbits about casting and bringing back THE villain to end all villains in the Bond universe. Welcome back Ernst Stavro Blofeld! Oh how I’ve missed you. And even better. The actor rumored to play him. None other than Michael Sheen (Lucian in Underworld). I’m sure the whole geeky Bond universe will be in an uproar about this, but I love the idea of Blofeld returning, ostensibly as the man behind the secret organization QUANTUM. In actuality, it’s a nice build up, a la the original movies with Dr. No, From Russia with Love and Goldfinger all pointing to the ringleader in charge of SPECTRE (the original criminal organization Bond constantly fought). In my opinion the Broccoli family has really turned this franchise around since the awful memories of Die Another Day.
Prototype Reviews
Just read over some of the reviews for Radical Entertainment’s Prototype. Given that the game has only been out for 2 weeks and it was pitted against the Sony PS3 exclusive inFamous, which has received a ton of marketing dollars from Sony, I beginning to worry that the game isn’t getting a fair deal.

1UP (B-): “Making Alex [the main character] such a badass also proves to be Prototype’s undoing. It becomes a fight to follow and control Alex in the midst of the action. This problem mounts the further you get into the game, leading to more frustration than fun … Alex can essentially fly around the city. With his jump, air dash, and glide abilities fully powered up, and the basic ability to run on any surface, the buildings become like a giant jungle gym.”
Eurogamer (7/10): “Fans of serious hero fiction will find Prototype a bit of a turn-off. You’re infected with some sort of virus … and the story of why, told through snatches of video obtained by absorbing key characters (basically, weakening and eating them) and in moody cut-scenes, is basic and yet difficult to follow … Mission design isn’t very open-ended, usually boiling down to doing something violently or stealthily, but with such a vast array of attacking options you often have the luxury of trying something different.”
IGN (7.5/10): “How long can you do flying elbow drops onto tanks or throw people off of rooftops before it gets boring? The world itself here is far from the most engaging … Since repetition is oftentimes the name of the game here, you can be sure you’ll be doing uninspired tasks over and over again.”
Giant Bomb (4/5): “Radical almost went too far with its kitchen-sink approach to combat design, but the gameplay here is satisfying and broad enough that you can have plenty of fun with it even without mastering the nuances of every last combo and attack … Prepare to be frustrated from time to time when the mission difficulty amps up to insane levels and you feel it’s you against the entire world all of a sudden.”
Deadpool Movie New
In an exclusive interview with MTV, Ryan Reynolds has confirmed that he and the movie studio are as committed as possible to making the solo Deadpool movie, and that Deadpool will be scarred and wear the Deadpool costume from the comic.
“He’s going to be the Merc with the Mouth, [we’re going to give] all those answers that everyone wants,” Reynolds explained. “He’s going to have the scarred-up face, he’s going to be in the suit — and, it’s going to be incredible.”
