This is the other reason why Grand Theft Auto 5 is AWESOME

GTAV-Peace2The whole world is a buzz over the latest version of Grand Theft Auto 5 with valid reason. The game just set a new record as being the quickest game title to reach 100 BILLION DOLLARS…….I mean 1 BILLION =/

And if you have picked up the game you can totally see why it crushed all the sales records. Regrettably I have not picked the game up. Mainly due to the fact that I’m knee deep in a bunch of other open world games and I think my subconscious has been purposely steering me away from the local GameStop. But one thing I will pick up is the latest Grand Theft Auto soundtrack. I’m not sure if people have forgotten or maybe it’s an after thought, but I don’t think people realize that the soundtracks to the last couple of GTA’s have been awesome! The guys at RockStar have consistently put in a ton of work to produce a soundtrack that is equally as good as each of their games.

GTA Vice City Greats Hits
It was the soundtrack that got me to pick up Vice City, not the idea of slapping hoes and stealing cars, even though that was pretty fun too. Grand Theft Auto Vice City’s soundtrack was great because it fit in perfectly with the totally 80’s, Miami Vice, Don Johnson type feel of the game.

GTA San Andreas

To be honest when GTA: San Andreas came out the only thing I did pick up was the soundtrack. Mainly because is it was the one CD (those round things they put movies on now) that had Slick Rick, Cypress Hill, James Brown and Rage Against the Machine just on Disc 1!! Between Disc 1 and Disc 2 of GTA: San Andreas you had the perfect musical snap shot of my teenage years of growing up in Los Angeles.

Grand Theft Auto 4
Then they did it again with GTA 4 Liberty City when they took it to New York City and delivered a gritty and grimy soundtrack that brought that extra touch of realism to the game. I mean the soundtrack had a tracks by NAS, Mobb Deep and Busta Rhymes! How many video games you now have can do that?

The-Music-of-Grand-Theft-Auto-V
From the list of artists on iTunes it looks like GTAV picked up right where 4 left off. True this soundtrack is not as “themed” as the previous ones, but it does offer a little bit of everything for everybody. You have a wide range of artists featured, with tracks from bands like Flying Lotus to Bootsy Collins.

So if you’re a fan of any of the Grand Theft Auto games turn back around and check out the sound tracks. I think you might like what you hear. Oh, and also check the “official” tracklisting for GTAV below this article or on www.rockstargames.com/V/music

I was born in Cleveland and raised in Los Angeles. Grew up with my face in a comic book and my head in the clouds. I have made many life decisions based on what would certain comic book or movie characters would do… this includes joining the United States Marines, getting into fights, starting random businesses and living in Japan for awhile. Some good decisions some bad, but all worth it.
