Everyone still wants to hate Tom Cruise, but when he’s putting out movies like Ghost Protocol, it’s really hard to. Although the movie is action packed from beginning to end, this may be the one Mission Impossible movie where the name stands true. Almost nothing goes right and I was left on the edge of my seat wondering when in fact the world would end. The stunts are completely incredible throughout. Filled with explosions, car chases, and too many close calls to count, this movie is definitely the action movie I wanted to see.
Alongside Tom Cruise is an awesome supporting cast. Jeremy Renner is absolutely outstanding. I’ve been waiting a while to see him do some full action scenes, and he does not disappoint (actually gave me high hopes to see what he does in Avengers). Paula Patton (Deja Vu) stars as the female lead. Some of her scenes seemed forced to me, but it didn’t take away from the movie. Last, but most certainly not least, is Simon Pegg (Shaun Of The Dead), who returns as Benji. Passing his field exam, he’s now part of the team. I was very happy to see him again, and in a much bigger role.
Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol was all around an awesome movie. I’m glad to see they haven’t wrung this franchise dry yet, and can’t wait to see what they have planned for the future. I give it 4 out of 5 Nerdskulls.
