I’m a huge fan of the Terminator franchise. In my humble opinion, T2 is the height of cinematic accomplishment. Granted the series declined in quality, but I have still been thoroughly entertained with each entry. I have also found great pleasure with the comic book series coming out of Dark Horse comics. If you haven’t read them, check them out before you see Genisys.
To be fair, we don’t know for sure where this new reboot of the franchise is going. The first trailer showed us scenes that we’re revisiting a familiar setting, Los Angeles 1984. We even get to see several scenes from the original movie, but this obviously effects the timeline. So where do we go from here?

My first comment is, what the fuck are you doing?!?!?! Why would you show us John Connor as a Terminator? That seems to be one hell of a big twist to let out of the bag. It’s definitely something I’d rather find out first hand while I watch the flick first hand. In the back of my mind, I truly hope they are showing us this revelation because there keeping back something even bigger. Sadly I don’t think that’s the case though.
Despite this huge spoiler the studio unveiled, I am excited to see how the story comes together, specifically the changes that have been made to the 1984 timeline. I want an explanation why Sarah Connor shows up prepared to fight when she saves Kyle Reese, when obviously she was a clueless average Jane in the original when Kyle Reese showed up to save her. I also want to know why we’re back in 1984. Is there some secret nexus that forces time travel to periodically revisit 1984? I’m also looking forward to the explanation on how Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Terminator looks old, yet Cyberdine robots should be able to stand the test of time (at least they did in the Sarah Connor Chronicles).
