As you may or may not know, the VGA Awards were held over the weekend and tons of video games were revealed. Throughout the day, we will be posting articles for the games that we are most excited about and we’re starting the day off with Batman: Arkham City!
If you didn’t play Batman: Arkham Asylum, you need to take a long look in the mirror and start questioning your loyalty to geekdom. The game is great and the storyline is top notch. Basically, you’re trapped in Arkham trying to fight your way through wave after wave of henchmen and fighting boss battles with every top tier Batman villain you can think of (except for Two Face.) The game does a wonderful job of mixing button mashing brawling with detective style game play.
From the looks of the trailer below, Arkham City will pick up exactly where the first game left off. You’re Batman (duh) lured into the newly constructed Arkham City after Arkham Asylum has fallen. Hugo Strange will play a massive role in this game which will coincide nicely with the Dark Knight Rises. Joker will be in this game, but won’t play as big a role as he did in the first game as he is shown to be sick (probably from the massive venom intake at the end of Batman: Arkham Asylum.) If you’re a fan of the Animated Series from the 90s, you’ll be excited to know that Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill are reprising their roles as Batman and Joker following the success of the first game! All in all, this looks to be the perfect sequel to an already great franchise.
Batman Arkham City will be released for Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 in Fall of 2011. We’ve included a gallery of other images from the game after the embedded trailer.
