Mondo Gallery Presents: Info•Rama

If there’s one thing that most nerds love, it’s information. And if you visit this site often, you know how much we here at Nerdlocker love pop culture art.  So mixing the two together might seem like a sure thing.  And you would be absolutely correct.

The dynamic duo of Kevin Tong and Tom Whalen launched Info•Rama in 2014, to create infographic posters that are meticulously researched and illustrated. Previous examples of beautiful and informative artwork in the realms of science, technology and culture can be found at the Info•Rama website.

Info•Rama, from the beginning has just been so enjoyable because Mitch Putnam, Tom Whalen, and I stumbled upon something that combines all the things we love: art, learning, and working with friends whose art we admire. I’ve been a big fan of Tom for years and Matt Taylor consistently delivers top notch intelligent work, so there was no question about having him join us. The work they’ve done for the show is among their finest.

– Kevin Tong

For their newest show, fellow Mondo artist Matt Taylor was invited to join and add his particular style into the mix, and the results seem to be a success. This newest show seeks to illustrate and illuminate classics like Back to the Future, JAWS, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The AvengersStar Wars and much more.

Since it launched, the Info•Rama project from Kevin Tong and Tom Whalen has been one of our favorite new developments in the poster world. We were excited to bring their illustrative infographic approach to our film properties, and adding Matt Taylor to the show was an incredible bonus. Sometimes collaborations come easily and feel really natural, and this is a perfect example of that.

Fans can stop by the gallery on Saturday, June 25th from 10AM – 12PM to hang out and get your posters, vinyl, etc. signed; limit to three items at a time. Please note that Tom Whalen will only be signing from 10AM – 11AM.

Born and raised in Texas, I live in the best city in the world, Austin. I spent the majority of my life sequestered in random theaters watching whatever I could, or in front of a TV ruining beloved VHS tapes and DVDs from overuse. I tend to act as a human IMDB for friends and family, as I have an uncanny (some would say useless) ability to remember a plethora of random facts regarding any given movie, actor/actress, etc. I spend the majority of my time these days passing on my geeky tendencies to my two kids. Confirmed Nerd. Lover of Film and TV. Extreme Hoarder of Collectibles: Screenprints, Statues, Action Figures, Prop Replicas, and piles of other stuff I deem incredibly valuable. Also, I usually have a beard.
