Pop culture has a long history of taking beloved relics from our childhood and adapting them for our adult lives. I for one was a Lego maniac! Growing up, I had several incidents where my mom would threaten to toss the lot of them if I left one more sharply edged brick laying around for her foot to find. Now Lego’s have come full circle with a recent major blockbuster movie, theme parks, and video games.
On the heels of the immense success and DVD release of The LEGO Movie, Hero Complex Gallery is proud to present the Pop Up Show and Dan Shearn’s first Solo Show, LEGO Memories (Or a Man-Child’s Recollection of the 80’s Through Lego) opening on Friday, June 20th.
This personal project first sprung from Dan’s own love of playing with Legos as a child, and as a child of the 80’s he decided he’d create his own mini figures in art based on his favorite 80’s icons. Dan has created over 60 new pieces for this show, so be sure to come and see his creations in person. And the best part is that most of the pieces in the show are only $20 so they make for great gifts for the LEGO mini fig fan in all of us!
