2015 has been one of the best years for film and project announcements. It’s been a nostalgic ride for me what with all the franchises I grew up on releasing films later this year such as Jurassic Park, Star Wars, Terminator, and now Alien!

Ridley Scott’s Alien goes down as one of the best sci-fi/horror films of all time, and the sequel is pretty damn close to that. Like most series, they start to get repetitive after the 3rd and 4th installment, then a few are made and really piss off the fans. Most fans were behind 2012’s Prometheus film and honestly the cinematography blew me away, but it just felt like it lacked a lot of character that Sigourney Weaver brought into the original films.

Recently, Slashfilm spoke with Sigourney about the role and movie, and had this to say:

The new ALIEN film by Neill Blomkamp will give the fans “a proper ending” to the ALIEN franchise to tell a new story that is a direct continuation of the arcs introduced in ALIEN and ALIENS.

So, does this mean Neill Blomkamp will disregard Alien 3 and Resurrection altogether, or will he go a whole new direction with the film? The anticipation is killing me, but with his track record, District 9, Elysium, and the recent film, Chappie, I have confidence in Mr. Blomkamp and his camera work, directorial eye and kick ass special effects. As long as he stays away from a CGI-ed Alien creature, I think this will be a fun film to check out in theaters. And can we please have an alien explode out of someone’s chest?

Sigourney Weaver is excited about this film and Neill Blomkamps wants to revisit the first two films, this is the greatest news I have heard all week! Are you excited??

I have been a horror fan since the age of two with the introduction of Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors on the old VHS tape. Ever since then, I have seen most movies in the horror genre at least twice and surrounded my home with a plethora of slasher memorabilia, movies, and comics. I am a musician, artist, student, tattoo enthusiast, traveler, and IT professional solving all of your technological issues one floppy disk at a time. If John Carpenter, Martin Scorsese and Pat Benatar were to have a ginger kid together, it would look something like me. Oh yeah, you may run into me in downtown Vegas checking out the local scene, watching any Chicago sports that are on, or writing my latest Nerdlocker review while enjoying a frothy beverage at a local coffee shop. I am looking forward to being doused with the buzzing spectacle of the nerd community for many years to come.
