A RALLYING CRY AND THE FEATURED BEER AT ALAMO DRAFTHOUSE THIS SUMMER
A smooth sipping gift to beer/pizza/turtle lovers everywhere from Stone Brewing and TMNT co-creator Kevin Eastman will flow at Alamo Drafthouse locations this summer – and for a good cause
Austin, TX – Monday June 6, 2016 – Arguably the most joy-inducing expression in the English language, “It’s Pizza Time!” is also a bodaciously big flavored beer collaboration from craft brew titans Stone Brewing and comic book legend Kevin Eastman, co-creator of the iconic “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.”
Alamo Drafthouse is righteously excited to announce they’ll be pouring Kevin Eastman & Stone “It’s Pizza Time!” Cali-Belgique IPA at all of its locations across the country starting this June – just in time for beer-drinking, pizza-loving, turtle-powering audiences to sip along as the heroes in a half shell rumble on the big screen in their latest outing.
What’s more, not only can audiences enjoy the heroic taste of Kevin Eastman & Stone “It’s Pizza Time!” Cali-Belgique IPA at Alamo, they can feel like heroes, too, knowing that $1 from each “It’s Pizza Time!” pint will be donated to The Hero Initiative, a charity dedicated to helping comic book industry veterans in need.
“I am beyond thrilled to be working with Stone Brewing again, bringing back our ‘It’s Pizza Time!’ collaboration, nothing could make that cooler,” says TMNT co-creator Kevin Eastman. “Nothing, except, also partnering up with the awesome Alamo Drafthouse this time around and a percentage of sales of ‘It’s Pizza Time!’ going to my favorite charity, The Hero Initiative! Who could ask for more – sipping a beer while watching a movie AND helping people?! Cowabunga!”
Eastman will be in person on June 26 at Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar in Austin, Texas to commemorate “It’s Pizza Time!” at a special screening of 1990’s TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES with live commentary by the co-creator.
Kevin Eastman & Stone “It’s Pizza Time!” Cali-Belgique IPA will flow from taps as June’s featured beer at all Alamo Drafthouse locations – a first for the company. Each location will also offer their own spotlight selections other Stone Brewing beers throughout the month.
“We’re always stoked to share the work of passionate, innovative people with our guests,” says Alamo Director of National Beer Promotions, John Gross. “We get excited about new, out-there movies the same way we get excited about new, out-there beers, and that’s very much what we have here from Stone. We’re pleased to showcase them in a big way this June and, of course, help share a pizza flavored beer with the world.”
Kevin Eastman & Stone “It’s Pizza Time!” Cali-Belgique IPA derives its superpowers from sweet basil, oregano, thyme, fennel, jalapeños and pineapple. The inspiration? Not just those beloved pizza-devouring terrapins, but also Eastman’s own personal favorite pizza style: Hawaiian with jalapeños. The original batch was brewed at Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens – Liberty Station by Brewing Manager Kris Ketcham, with herbs chopped personally by Eastman and his wife, Courtney. Like all great beers, that original batch was quickly enjoyed down to the last drop, becoming the stuff of beer legend.
However, Stone and Eastman heroically agreed to brew a new batch of “It’s Pizza Time!” especially for Alamo Drafthouse audiences to enjoy.
“Stone Brewing and Kevin Eastman came together last year through our shared passion for doing good in our community,” explains Stone Research and Small Batch Manager Steve Gonzalez. “So we decided to brew a beer together using herbs, jalapeños and pineapple to pay homage to Eastman’s favorite pizza style. This year, we’re happy to share ‘It’s Pizza Time!’ with our friends at the Alamo Drafthouse. This new batch uses our year-round Stone Cali-Belgique IPA, which perfectly pairs with the combination of pizza-inspired spices. We’re excited to give more of our fans and Alamo audiences a chance to try this unique, great-tasting collaboration!”
