We are looking at one of the biggest summers for comic book movies ever and the spoilers just keep coming. We have a few new images from the upcoming X-Men: First Class movie and they kind of get me excited. I am the first to admit that this film had me less intrigued and more annoyed at first, but now I see a lot of potential. Read the synopsis below:
X-Men: First Class: “Charts the epic beginning of the X-Men saga, and reveals a secret history of famous global events. Before mutants had revealed themselves to the world, and before Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Not archenemies, they were instead at first the closest of friends, working together with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to stop Armageddon. In the process, a grave rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto’s Brotherhood and Professor X’s X-Men.”
Matthew Vaughn is directing the blockbuster and has stated he has ideas for sequels for the already over-abundant franchise:
“1962 is far more grounded in the world of the ’50s. I think it takes about five years for a decade to really start getting its identity, so the fun thing about this for me would be doing [a sequel] in the latter part of the decade, where you’ve got The Stones, The Beatles, Flower Power…”
Bryan Singer couldn’t help but speak up in rebuttal to Vaughn:
“In First Class he uses Cerebro for the first time and maybe it unlocks something in his head – maybe he can’t keep the voices out or something. So in the second movie his journey could be about getting himself out of a mess. And then in the third movie he becomes… Patrick Stewart!”
In addition to all that juicy information, we get plenty of eye candy. Including this new poster.
X-Men: First Class opens June 03, 2011, and stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Rose Byrne, January Jones, Kevin Bacon, Nicholas Hoult, Jennifer Lawrence, Caleb Landry Jones, Lucas Till, Edi Gathegi, Jason Flemyng, Oliver Platt, Morgan Lily, Zoe Kravitz and Bill Bilner.
