The After Life story done by writers Al Ewing and Rob Williams was nicely done in a way that simplified what being happy is all about. Despite all the negative outlooks one can have or what happenstance one can only imagine when they meet the good Doctor!

That is what was done in this first issue from Titan Comics. Alice is down on her luck, and it took the eleventh Doctor to make her see the brighter side of life! The first issue is all types of crazy as the artwork of Simon Frasier’s cartoon antics brings Alice and the Doctor together as they chase an intergalactic dog.

The interesting scenario of this adventure is that the dog is growing bigger per page of the comic. The body of background story on Alice is great and you understand why the Doctor gravitates to her. Ewing and Frasier do a great work on brining the detailed life of this heartbroken character like Alice.

Which is another reason why the pairing of Alice and the Doctor is such a nice compliment. You see in the book how the Doctor brings Alice back to life as they both deal with the problems of being space dog catchers.

The real story on why the intergalactic dog is there is as adorable as the whole story which revolves around Alice and the Doctor, and brings yet another Doctor Who tale right out of the tv show and into the hands of the readers. It’s why I really enjoyed it and am pretty sure fans of the eleventh Doctor will too!!

I’m giving Doctor Who: The Eleventh Doctor #1, 3.5 out of 5 Nerdskulls!!
