Jason’s Bracket – March Nerdness: The Championship

You knew it would come down to this.  The baddest superheroes of their respective universes.  Batman and Wolverine.

How did Wolverine defeat Dark Phoenix?  Well, if you didn’t see X3, I really don’t blame you.  I’ve tried to purge it from my memory.  But the last scene where Wolvie gets all close and personal before his flesh peels off is pretty cool.  Then of course he sticks her and we are all happy the film is finally over.

Batman vs. Luthor: Battle of the Billionaires.  Both of these mortals have the funding, cunning, and will power to take down more powerful foes.  This isn’t the first time these two have squared off, but most of the time these two have gone toe-to-toe it’s been with Superman involved in the equation (Batman/Superman: Public Enemies, DK2, etc).  Then I remembered a comic where both Luthor and Batman were in conflict with Superman, Kingdom Come.  This series allows us to see the biggest difference between Luthor and Wayne.  Luthor is always over-confident while Batman prepares for every eventuality.  In Kingdom Come we see a Lex Luthor who has become fat and soft in his old age.  Even when he’s been broken, Batman finds a way to make himself stronger (exo-skeleton).  It’s no surprise when Batman easily takes Luthor down once he is able to neutralize Luthor’s bodyguard, Captain Marvel.

So there it is.  I’ve used a terrible film and the great Alex Ross to rationalize my championship contest.  Batman vs. Wolverine.  Predictable?  Yes. But if I were to model it after the actual Final Four, then we would have the likes of Captain Atom (Kentucky) vs. Starfire (U Conn) and Black Adam (Butler) vs. Bullseye (VCU).  While those are very cool characters, no one would be happy with those semi-finals.

Weapon X vs. The Dark Knight

I've been a comic nerd since Spider-man and his Amazing Friends and the Super Friends. So someone please explain to me, when did Aquaman become so cool? Also, why isn't She-Hulk in more media?
