Kit’s Comics In Review – Saga #13 and Ghosted #2!

Saga #13
Writer: Brian K. Vaughan
Artist: Fiona Staples
Cover Artist: Fiona Staples
Publisher: Image Comics

After a long silence of four months, there seems to be a light over the horizon. Could it be? Is it possible? Yes! Saga is back with issue #13! A lot of people have been patiently waiting for this issue and I am ecstatic to review it. Issue #13 is the continuation of Alana and Marko’s journey in search of author Mr. Heist.

I don’t want to spoil this issue for anyone, but there was a lot of continuation to the story and I was really happy to catch up with all of the characters. Some important events happen and it was very captivating and exciting. Part of me wants to hold off so I can just read the third trade without having to wait for single issues, but it’s a joke to even mention that as a possibility. I love Fiona’s style and how she brings Brian’s story to life; they are a perfect team.

Here’s to another beautiful issue of Saga; some new characters were introduced, but the story caught up with everyone else. Fiona has done a beautiful job in keeping her art consistent and clean, while Brian has kept me hooked on the story.

I am giving Saga #13, 5 out of 5 Nerdskulls.

Ghosted #2
Writer: Joshua Williamson
Artist: Goran Sudzuka
Cover Artist: Sean Phillips
Publisher: Image Comics
On Sale Date: August 14, 2013

In Ghosted #2, Jackson has paid a group of ghost hunters to capture the spirits at Trask Mansion, where many deaths have occurred. Jackson and his partner Anderson seem to be hiding secrets, forcing the crew out of the mansion before sundown. With this only being the second issue, I am curious to see why Jackson and his partner are so secretive.

For being a paranormal comic there weren’t many ghostly appearances. It’s hard to tell with it being so early in the series, but I hope to see more of the Trask murders unfold within issue #3. The art felt like an early 90s comic and I enjoyed the mild nostalgia with it.

I enjoyed this issue, but I really want to see this story kick it up a notch for issue #3.

For now, I am giving Ghosted #2, 3.5 out of 5 Nerdskulls.
